Invisibility Poems/ Performance

Well the last of week before the Thanksgiving break was all about working up to the performance at La Pena. Tuesday we taught the youth about critiquing their pieces.they learned what to look for and how to say the critique with out being negative. On Thursday it was all day working on their performance of the audience and working on their presence on the stage as well as their pieces. and finally on that day we went to La Pena to do the actual Performance at the open mic. This was a very good experience for the youth because for many of them it was their first time on the stage. some were very nervous and some excited but what they laid down on the stage was something to be admired.

Career Planning Workshop

Today, we were introduced to ways to figure out our career paths. We began the day by listing our job interest and then started an interactive activity based on our list. This activity was based on the interview process and gave us more experience on what the expectations were being in a interview. After the activity we began researching about our individual jobs and began to figure out the requirements for our respective job. today i learned that i wanted to be a secondary teacher or high school teacher in political sciences with an option to be a lawyer. Finally, i learned that i must complete a bachelors in any interest that i want and then complete a master and credential program to teach in the state of california. i had some good knowledge and know my goals for when i go to college.

Conflict Mediation

Today, We had another intern meeting at Oakland Leaf. It was a great time. we learned by example. Through various activities and examples of conflict mediation we learned what to do in certain situations, and learned some tools to use when we find ourselves either in conflict or mediating that conflict. Success was achieved and the workshop showed more than one way to handle conflict which will be helpful in the near future. So for now i am more informed and hope to use it for my benefit as well as others.
Peace,
Mario
